What does all this mean? (Help
/ Frequently Asked Questions)
What is a Domain Name?
A domain name is your registered Internet address
which points to your web site, for example: "www.yourcompanyname.com". This would be the location of
your web site. So when you want to refer someone to your web site
you would give them this address to type into their internet
browser.
What is Web Hosting?
Your web site would need to be hosted on a web server. This is the
space or memory where all the information is stored on a computer
connected to the worldwide web.
What is Disk Space?
The total amount of storage memory on your server where your web
site information is kept. Our hosting plans offer 40MB of space to
hold this information. This page you are currently viewing is
approximately 0.01MB.
What is Data Transfer?
This is the amount of information that is transferred to and
from the server. The more people view your web site the more your
data transfer monthly allowance is used. We allow up to 1 Giga Bite
of transfer per month in our hosting packages. We find this is more
than enough for small/medium business web sites.
What are Pop 3 Mailboxes?
Mailboxes allow you to check your emails through programs such
as Outlook Express. We provide support to set up your email if
required.
What is Web Mail?
Web mail allows you to log onto your emails to read and send
emails online from any computer with internet access.
What are Web Stats?
Web stats are statistics of your web site. They will show the
number of times people have accessed and viewed the web site as well
as many other detailed reports.
What is a Search Engine?
Search
engines are used to search for information or web sites, like a
directory. See
www.msn.com or
www.altavista.com.au
